The workshop will dive deep into what happened at piper alpha and what caused the giant oil rig to explode. To mark its 30th anniversary, the workshop leader will go through different scenarios and will involve a hypothetical incident scenario which will allow attendees to gain unparalleled insights on how the incident could potentially be avoided and the hazards and indications leading up to the event.
Followed by the session, the audience will also be given an opportunity to learn from each other’s practices, followed by recommendations from the workshop leader on how to ensure the right process safety culture in order to avoid and mitigate risks of the occurrence of incidents and how to ensure that assets and the future of organisations can be safe and efficient
The full day workshop covers the below:
- Piper Alpha: the 30 years anniversary
- The layers of protection and management system failed to save 167 men from death in 1988 on the Piper Alpha
- A demonstration through a short interactive session on how the chain of events developed to lead to the disaster that night
